Unhappy Critters

Just a small post to showcase my latest work

Two amigurumi dolls based on the red bird and green pig from the Angry Birds game

I've done a stuffed toy based on this bird before, but this one is larger and the design has been slightly tweaked

Overhauling

Finally updating this blog again.

Been having a difficult few months but now I'm back with new designs and redesigns. This post will focus on the design changes I've implemented.

First up is my redesign of my mascot, the knit wolf

You can see I've given it a rounder body, rounder snout and placed the eyes differently to give it a cuter look

Up next  is my slightly tweaked Kirby

The changes here aren't quite as significant, but still there. I've given it larger eyes and feet

Finally, C'thulhu

This is the most significantly overhauled design. I've made him rounder, given him larger wings added more tentacles and positioned them so that they curl in different directions

New project and review

Doing something a little different today. In addition to posting my latest project I'm also throwing the spotlight on a talented Etsy artisan whose work needs to be seen.

At Home With PJ is a shop on Etsy that features stuffed toys and dolls, done in a style that I feel is a seamless blend of classic and modern.

It should come as no surprise that I am a collector of stuffed toys, particularly teddy bears, so I was ecstatic when this little guy arrived in the mail a couple of weeks ago (you know, before the lovely postal strike)

Beautiful and well made, her work would make a great addition to the collection of a kid or kid at heart. I highly recommend visiting her shop.

Now, onto my latest project. A stuffed toy of a Boo from the Super Mario games:

A little something cute to haunt your house

For OnePoundOfFlesh

Christmas has come for you dear, time to receive your gift.

A small, cuddly .... tribute to you. A doll version of you as my imagination dictates

Personally, I think you look fantastic like this

Here's one of you with your friend and mine

Hope you like it, my bittersweet.

Note: For anyone who has just happened onto this... if you know who this guy is and what this is about then have a cookie.

If not... well... I'm not explaining it to you :p
Best go look at the moogles or bunnies instead

Farmers' Market and New Project

Well I presented my work to the jury of the Farmers' Market on Tuesday and I've just been informed that I've been accepted!

I'll be spreading the knitted madness there very soon.

I'll keep you posted as to the dates and I hope to see you there.

Moving right along, here is my latest project:

A cute little death bunny to ferry you to the other side. In Asian culture the number 4 is associated with death, hence why this little guy has it on his head

Canada Post Part 3

Due to the possibility of a postal strike I have decided to place my shop in vacation mode until an agreement is reached...

All custom orders will still be completed, but shipping will be dependent on the Postal Service resolving it's issues

Local orders can still be picked up as usual.

I apologize for any inconvenience

Knitting Nightmares

Don't usually do this, but I figured I'd post some of my drawings. Don't worry, I'm still working hard on my knitting, I just wanted to share these.
As the title of this post suggests, I've been having nightmares lately so I drew this one as a way to get the images out of my head and on to some paper
I dreamt that one of my slender man dolls started to move on its own. It then started to walk towards me in this unearthly fashion. As it got closer, its arms and legs began to stretch out and it began to grow taller. By the time it reached me it was full sized and looking down at me with that eyeless stare. I couldn't move. What was really creepy was that when I woke up. I was sure he was standing by the bed... ugh sleep paralysis is fun... I don't know why I ended up drawing myself as a doll in this picture... It just felt right

This is one I did a long time ago. I just thought that if I was going to share one, I might as well share the other. This is a chuch in my hometown... The trees there always reminded me of gnarled hands reaching upward
Well ... there are my crappy doodles for the evening. Thanks for taking the time to look and I'll be back with more knitting soon

It's moogle time!

I'm back, and things are going to be alright...

So, to get back to my usual foolishness, here is my latest custom order, another full sized moogle (also based on Lulu's Moogle from Final Fantasy X)
I refined the design to give it a rounder shape and to give more definition between the head and body. The narrower neck, while still very sturdy allows the head to flop a bit more which gives it a more cartoonish appearance and allows it to sit up on its own more easily.

I feel that this is an overall improvement from the first one and I am very pleased with how this one came out.
I'm off to work on my other orders now, so again, if you're waiting on something from me, please be patient. I haven't forgotten you
To anyone who is new to this blog and is here because of a certain well dressed gentleman who lacks a face: There will be more slender man dolls soon as well...

Important Announcement

I have been dealing with a family emergency. This has caused a slow down in my work. If you have ordered custom work from me it may take longer for it to be ready, but I'm still working on it.

I apologize for any inconvenience

Convention Aftermath

Holy Hell what a weekend!
Sci-Fi on the Rock V was GREAT! I'm still recuperating

Here are some pics from the con and I'll be posting more project pics later

First up, me at my table:

If I look tired in this pic, it's because I was. I had been on the go since 6 that morning

It was quiet at first but picked up fast

There was a great turnout this year and there was a lot to take in in terms of the talent alone.

The costumes were amazing and so were the people

All in all it was a wonderful experience and I can't wait for next year! My knitting went over well and I made some good contacts. I couldn't be more pleased
Thanks to everyone who took the time to come and see me!
It was great meeting you all. You made this weekend awesome!

Sci Fi on the Rock

I am super happy to say that I'll be bringing my geeky knits to Sci Fi on the Rock 5 in April, so come by and check out my table

The convention is taking place at the Holiday Inn in St. John's from April 15-17 . You can read more about it at www.scifiontherock.com

Also, I've been knitting away on several projects, so here are two of the latest

A Cheep-Cheep

A little cuddle fish (hurr hurr) based on the Super Mario Bros. enemy

and

The latest in my line of cryptids: The Chuppacabra

Based on the description given in eyewitness accounts, then cutified in my usual way, this little, one-fanged chuppacabra is sure to add some quirky fun to anyone's collection. He doesn't take up much space and only needs to be fed half a goat every other week
Both of these are available at knitwolf.etsy.com

Canada Post Rant Part 2

Sorry to rant again but I just wanted to make an addition to my previous rant due to recent events...

Okay....

As you probably have guessed by the subjects of my knitting here, I am a geek so it should be no suprise that I bought Mothra and Godzilla figures on ebay a few weeks ago. The seller was very quick to respond and they were shipped the day after my order.

I waited anxiously, as I said for a few weeks, for the figures to arrive. Finally, a few days ago they were delivered

So what's my problem?

The problem is that they were delivered by some guy who found the package left in his driveway and who was nice enough to find my house and give it to me.

Now what I hope, and what probably happened is that the package was knocked out of the mail carriers bag as they grabbed someone else's mail and they didn't notice, but really?
I know it was just my collectibles, but what if that had been someones medication or something else that was really needed? It just seems very careless to me.

Perhaps I'm overreacting due to already being miffed by what I brought up in the first rant, but I just had to get that off my chest...

back to knitting again; hoping to have another project up soon

SUCCESS!!!

I'm a day late, but I have successfully finished that project I mentioned in the last post.

Here they are, my Cthulhu gloves

These are my first attempt at gloves and I am very happy with the way they turned out. They are adult sized and sure to warm your hands before they swallow your soul!

Now available at http://knitwolf.etsy.com

Ia ia Cthulhu fhtagn!
